You can make this milkshake from start to finish in just a few minutes, and of course, it's much better than anything you can buy bottled. All you need for this delicious drink are 3 ingredients and a blender.

Sweet mangoes are a firm favorite of mine. I love them in this mango panna cotta too. You can use fresh or canned mango pulp as you prefer.

Now you know this is such a delicious and nutritious drink, I'm sure you'll want to make your own right away. Check out this strawberry banana milkshake too!

Main Ingredients

The ingredients used to make mango milkshakes laid out on a table.

Every ingredient in this 3-ingredient shake is a key ingredient, so let's take a look at what you need:

  • Mango pulp: The main flavor in the mango milkshake. The choice between canned mango pulp and fresh mango flesh is all yours and depends on how much time you have to make the milkshake. The difference in the result between these two is minimal, so just use whatever you have. Another option would be frozen mango pulp and that would help get the milkshake nice and chilled too. If you're using fresh mangoes make sure they're sweet and ripe.
  • Whole milk: For creaminess and the perfect consistency. Whole milk is the richest type to use, but you could use 2% or nonfat if you prefer. You could even use non-dairy milk such as oat, soy, or almond milk.
  • Sugar: To get the sweetness just right. Mango is already sweet, but this sweetness is diluted a bit with the milk, so a little sugar balances it out again. Don't want to use sugar? Honey, agave syrup, or artificial sweetener would all be fine instead. If you don't want to add any sugar or sweetener, that is also fine.

Instructions Overview

Mango is a great source of Vitamin C. This fruit is high in fiber and low in calories. You won't believe how easy this mango milkshake is to prepare. All you need to do is add the ingredients to a blender and then you can blend the milkshake until smooth. That's it! The recipe makes 2 servings, so if you aren't sharing, you might want to save one for tomorrow.

Common Questions

How long can milkshakes last in the fridge?

It's best to drink a mango milkshake as soon as it's prepared, but you can make it up to a day ahead if that's easier. Keep it in a sealed container and give it a good stir before serving. Another option would be freezing it. Again, mix it well after thawing. I would probably run it through the blender again just to ensure everything is mixed up.

What is the ratio of milk to ice cream in a milkshake?

Sometimes I like to add ice cream to this recipe, but that's completely up to you. If you do want to experiment with the addition of ice cream, I'd recommend adding half a cup of ice cream. If the milkshake seems too thick then you can simply add a little more milk and blend again.

What should I put in my milkshake?

The basic combo of mango, milk, and sugar works just fine and you can also add ice cream to your mango milkshake if you want to. Something else you can try is adding a spoonful of nut butter. This boosts the protein content and makes the milkshake more filling! Peanut butter is good or you can add something like almond or hazelnut butter instead.

Chopnotch Tips

  • Use non-dairy milk to make this dairy-free. Coconut milk would go well with the mango and add even more of a tropical taste. Or you can use more than one kind of milk.
  • A pinch of ground cardamom adds exotic flair.
  • Add a scoop of ice cream for extra creaminess and richness. You can use vanilla ice cream, mango ice cream (or sorbet), or in fact any fruity flavor.
  • You might like to garnish the finished milkshake with dried rose petals and pistachio nut slivers for a gourmet presentation.
