Matcha Brownies

Try this twist on the classic brownie recipe. These are fudgy and pair green tea with vanilla and white chocolate.
Prep Time:10 minutes
Cook Time:18 minutes
Total Time:28 minutes
Servings:16 brownies

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour +1 tablespoon
  • 4 tablespoons matcha powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup white chocolate chips
  • 5 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 320°F. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Leave some parchment paper hanging over both ends of the pan for easy removal later. Set aside.
  • Combine the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and whisk until evenly combined.
  • Add the white chocolate chips and butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30-second intervals while stirring the mixture in-between until it has melted completely. Now whisk the eggs into the melted chocolate mixture until it turns uniform in color, and then whisk in the sugar and vanilla until thick and smooth.
  • Fold the chocolate mixture into the flour mixture until smooth and lump-free, then transfer the batter into the prepared pan, level the top with a spatula, and bake on the middle rack for 18 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the oven. Use the parchment paper to lift the brownies out of the pan immediately, and then let them cool on a cooling rack. Slice into squares once completely cooled. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you only have salted butter you can use that, but in that case, omit the salt.
  • Make sure the parchment paper overhangs the baking dish so you can remove them easily without breaking them.
  • Matcha oxidizes fast once the package is open so buy it as fresh as you can and use it within a month.
